Description for B&B:

This particular maison offers four exceptionally spacious guestrooms, each uniquely designed with private shower rooms and stunning views that are perfect for painting. Formerly the residence of the Duke de Lévis-Mirepoix, the house exudes charm and character, highlighted by a breathtaking gallery adorned with stained glass windows, Rococo plaster, and decorative tiles. Located in the enchanting bastide village of Léran, which dates back to the 13th century, the majestic chateau of the dukes dominates the skyline. Le Castelou provides a range of art and film-making activities, offering courses suitable for all skill levels, as well as painting easels, studios, and digital media facilities. The interior design of our four bedrooms aims to create a sense of spaciousness while encouraging an appreciation for the unique shapes and angles found within each room. Le Belvédère boasts a private balcony with a mesmerizing panoramic view, making it the perfect spot to enjoy an aperitif while marveling at the architecture of the Chateau, the picturesque Léran church, or the majestic Pyrenees mountains. La Belle Pyrène offers a spacious room with handsome views of the Pyrenees, allowing for ample warm atmospheric light in the afternoons and evenings. Even the ensuite shower room provides a delightful view over the village rooftops to the Pyrenees. La Suite Léran consists of two adjoining bedrooms, equipped with double and single beds, offering flexibility and space for couples, families, or friends. The suite features a private shower room and overlooks Cours St Jacques, a part of the ancient pilgrimage route along the Pyrenees from France to Spain known as the Camino Santiago de Campostella. La Suite Castelou is a grand-sized room with its own salon area, en-suite shower room, and separate private WC. With over 50 m2 (550 sq ft) of space, this suite is perfect for those who prefer to stretch out and relax. The windows, positioned at treetop level, provide splendid views of Cours St Jacques and the Pyrenees.

Directions

To travel from Blagnac/Toulouse to Léran, follow these directions. Take the A61 on the peripherique towards Carcassonne, Barcelona, and FOIX PEAGE (not Foix RN 20). Once on the A61, look for the A66 fork towards Andorra after passing the pèage. At the next péage, the road merges with the N20 in the direction of Foix. Take the exit at junction 6 towards Mirepoix and Lavelanet. Join the D119 towards Mirepoix (first exit of roundabout on the right). Continue through Les Pujols, Rieucros, Coutens, and Besset until you reach Mirepoix. Go straight at the first roundabout on the outskirts of town. At the second roundabout, turn right onto the D625 towards Lavelanet.

From Carcassonne, follow the D119 towards Mirepoix. Continue through Montréal and Fanjeaux towards Mirepoix. After crossing the bridge, follow signs for "toutes directions". At the second set of traffic lights, turn left and then go straight at the roundabout onto the D625 towards Lavelanet.

Pass through the village of La Bastide de Bousignac before reaching Aigues-Vives (approximately 8 minutes). When you see the sign for Aigues-Vives, slow down and indicate left because the left turn to Léran is hidden behind some buildings on the left side of the road. This is the first and only sign for Léran. The road (D28) will directly take you to the village in about 4 minutes of driving.

After passing the church, turn right into cours St Jacques. The mairie/school will be on the left. Le Castelou is the next building on the left, number 8 Cours St Jacques, just after the little crossroads. The house is pale yellow with white outlines around the windows.
