Description:

Description for B&B:

Les Eaux Tranquilles is located in the stunning Gorge la Pierre-Lys, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. Situated at an elevation of 320 meters above sea level, our property is on the outskirts of the charming village of Belvianes et Cavirac, which sits 200 meters below the winter snow line. This prime location makes us the perfect destination for both summer and winter vacations. We are conveniently positioned between the cities of Carcassonne and Perpignan, just a 40 and 50-minute drive away respectively. Both cities have airports serving the UK, Belgium, and Ireland.

At Les Eaux Tranquilles, we have created a warm and welcoming environment where guests can unwind from the stresses of everyday life. Our private park provides a sanctuary by the river Aude, where you can relax on our terrace with a bottle of wine, enjoying the soothing sound of the flowing river.

During the summer, we frequently host barbeques on the terrace, allowing our friends and guests to mingle and soak in the wonderful ambiance of the Pyrenees mountains.

The nearest town to us is Quillan, just 4km north on the D117. There, you will find a variety of restaurants, bars, shops, banks, a railway station with connections to the main line station at Carcassonne, a coach station with links to Carcassonne and Perpignan, a tourist office open year-round, and a main post office. In the summer, Quillan comes alive with outdoor concerts in the two squares, as well as an international folk festival that visits for two weeks in July. Belvianes also enjoys its own three-day fete with live music and entertainment. The region is abundant with vineyards and wine caves where you can sample and purchase local wines. Just a short drive away is the town of Limoux, renowned for its production of Blanquette, the first-ever sparkling wine in France.

The ancient Cité of Carcassonne, famous for its magnificent spires that inspired Walt Disney, is only a 50-minute drive from our property. In July, the Cité hosts a magnificent fireworks spectacular that attracts visitors from around the world.

Our grounds encompass a large private park of 0.75 hectares/2 acres, bordered by the river Aude. This river, home to trout and salmon, was visited by Robert Redford during his stay nearby. Inspired by the Aude's relentless journey to the sea, Redford directed the world-famous film "A River Runs Through It," after reading a book of the same name. Additionally, every other year, we are visited by the Tour de France, as it passes at the top of our road.

A three-minute walk from our property will lead you to our local Auberge, which offers reasonably priced meals with outdoor seating in the summer. It's an ideal spot to relax, eat, drink, and watch the Tour de France.

There are numerous picturesque lakes nearby where you can swim or enjoy a picnic. Within an easy hour and a half drive, you can reach the magnificent Mediterranean beaches, free from the high-rise hotels commonly found in Spanish resorts. Take a coastal road to Spain and explore the small French fishing villages nestled in charming bays. You can even bring back fresh fish from the boats and cook it on our barbecue in the evening, accompanied by an excellent bottle of Languedoc Roussillon wine.

It may all sound idyllic, and that's because it is. We firmly believe that your stay with us, whether for one night or two weeks, should be as enjoyable as possible. We take pride in offering the highest level of customer service, ensuring that no request is too much trouble for us. But don't just take our word for it – take a look at the comments from our previous guests to see what they have to say.

We welcome guests of all nationalities and provide secure parking in our grounds, as well as a secure garage for touring motorcycles and cyclists, who are always welcome.

Appréciations pour Les Eaux Tranquilles, Belvianes et Cavirac:

séjour d'une semaine aux Eaux Tranquilles
Review by: Michelle et Philippe Delaporte , Juil 31 2017 4:50PM
Accueil très aimable de Monsieur Kenway. Chambres très calmes et agréables avec literie de bonne qualité. Service efficace. Bons petits-déjeuners et dîners. Beau parc paysagé en bordure de l' Aude.

Directions

Directions from the north:
If you are driving all the way, take the Autoroute A61 to Carcassonne and exit at Junction 23. Follow the signs to Limoux, which will be on the D118 road.

If you are coming from the airport, turn left out of the airport. However, if you are not allowed to do so, turn right and go up to the roundabout. Then, turn back and past the airport on your left, take a right turn with a sign to Limoux. Follow the signs to Limoux, passing the Autoroute junction 23 along the way.

Continue straight through Limoux in the direction of Quillan on the D118. When you reach the first set of traffic lights in Quillan, you will be 4km away from our B&B. Drive straight at the first set of lights, and the road number will change to the D117 (although you may not notice it). At the second set of lights, again drive straight. After approximately 2km, you will see a big panel on the right with "Les Eaux Tranquilles" written on it. Keep going and you will pass an Auberge (Auberge du Chalet) on the right. Our B&B is the next turning on the left, clearly signposted on the corner with Les Eaux Tranquilles.

Directions from the south:
Unfortunately, we cannot put up any sign posts due to the area being of outstanding natural beauty. Therefore, you must drive down the D117 to Axat. At the roundabout in Axat, which has life-size sculptures of local bears, go straight over and enter the gorge. Drive cautiously at a speed no faster than 50 kph, as there are some sharp bends. As you exit the gorge, you will see a large car park on the right, followed by a staggered crossroads with Cavirac to the right and Belvianes to the left. Continue for about 50 meters and then turn right. There are signs with Les Eaux Tranquilles on the corner.

If you get lost or encounter any problems, please give us a call.
