Description for B&B:
Our house, Ygeia or Hygieia, is named after the Greek Goddess of Health, and it truly lives up to its name. Ever since we fell in love with this beautiful property in 2009, we have made it our haven and visit as often as possible. We have put in a lot of hard work ourselves to maintain and improve the house, except for major constructions like the pool, which is why it has taken longer than expected! In order to cover the costs and also share this amazing place with others, we have decided to rent it out as a gite. We sincerely hope that you have a wonderful time during your stay and enjoy the property just as much as we do!
When you step into our home, you will be greeted with the charm and character of a traditional French country house. We have preserved its old-fashioned appeal while providing the comfort of modern fixtures. Whether you choose to relax on the exceptional river terrace, explore the lush green garden, or unwind in the cozy and comfortable rooms inside, we are confident that you will love the house as much as we do.
Flaujagues, where our house is located, is a mere 15 km away from St Emilion, the famous medieval village and vineyards that have been designated as a UNESCO world heritage site. Additionally, Flaujagues is conveniently situated 50 km from Bordeaux and an hour and a half away from the stunning Atlantic coast and the Bassin d’Arcachon, renowned for its beaches and oysters, as well as the famous Medoc region, known for its excellent wines. As Flaujagues lies in the Entre-deux-Mers region, which is celebrated for its wines, vineyards, and picturesque medieval villages, there are plenty of hiking trails to explore. Golf enthusiasts will also be pleased to know that there are four golf courses nearby.
The southwest of France is a gourmet region, offering a wide range of culinary experiences. From high-end restaurants like the Hostellerie de Plaisance in St Emilion, known for its Michelin-starred chef, to charming local spots like La Puce, a favorite among vineyard workers, there is an amazing diversity of tastes to discover. Whether you prefer a hearty beef dish or want to try the local specialty of la Lamproie, a type of fish, or even if you have a craving for pigeon or oysters from Arguin, the choice is yours. We would be delighted to point you in the right direction and recommend the best dining options. And if cooking is your passion, we can also provide guidance on where to find the best products and wines for your culinary adventures.
Conveniently, our house is located between two international airports. Bergerac, which is connected to England through Ryanair, is just 40 km away, while Bordeaux Merignac Airport is 50 km away.
