Description for B&B:

As Dutch speakers, we are fluent in English, French, and German, so please feel free to reach out to us in your native language.

The historic former Mayor's residence, located at 21 Rue des Halles, across from the Council House in the medieval oyster harbor village of Mornac sur Seudre, was originally designed by architect Jean Buneau for Mayor Rouffineau. Buneau hailed from the nearby fashionable seaside resort of Royan. The architectural style of this magnificent Charentais townhouse stands in striking contrast to the picturesque Celtic fishermen's village of Mornac and exudes a 19th-century Parisian charm.

The building, made of beautifully carved stone, exudes an elegant yet slightly weathered charm that the current owners take pride in preserving.

The Courtyard
Situated at the back of the house, there is a delightful enclosed courtyard where, weather permitting, we serve a generous breakfast at a long table under a large parasol. This same spot is also perfect for enjoying pre-dinner cocktails.

The Pool
Discreetly tucked away in the corner of the courtyard, there is a small swimming pool for a refreshing dip whenever desired.

The Tea Garden
Located across the pathway at the rear of the house, you will find a lovely tea garden adorned with a mature cherry tree that blossoms with luscious cherries in May and provides welcome shade throughout the summer. The classic garden furniture invites you to relax and indulge in afternoon tea.

The Dining Room
In the rare event of inclement weather, our stylish Salle à Manger offers a cozy alternative for breakfast. It is furnished with a touch of Monsieur Rouffineau's intended style.

The Library
Our well-stocked bookshelves offer an extensive selection of reading material and information in various languages. La Bibliothèque is also a great space for board games and card evenings, and the piano is available for talented amateurs to play.

Review by: Famille charlet, Aou 13 2023 11:28AM
