Description for Gite
Mas de la Gache is a charming farm that dates back to the early 17th century. Over the past 12 years, we, Esmé, Eddie, Julia, and Lucie, have dedicated ourselves to restoring this historic property and giving it a new lease on life. In addition to our small-stock farming, we have also built a holiday apartment, allowing us to share our unique spot on the map of France. The apartment is nearly complete and will be available for rent starting this summer. Our "Mas," or big farm, is peacefully located just outside the village, a 15-minute walk away. Separated from the village by the Cèze River, our location ensures a tranquil and idyllic retreat. Here, you will find no traffic noise, streetlights, bustling resorts, or nosy neighbors. Instead, what awaits you is a haven of peace and quiet, a sky full of stars at night, the melodic chirping of birds and treehoppers, cheerful chickens and crowing roosters, fresh eggs, and juicy tomatoes. Moreover, the climate here is favorable for most of the year, adding to the overall appeal. In essence, we offer the perfect place to relax and do absolutely nothing. It is an ideal spot for taking long siestas in the shade of the trees by the riverside, enjoying leisurely breakfasts, and savoring delicious dinners made from locally sourced ingredients.
For a reasonable price, you can indulge in a luxurious stay in the beautiful south of France. What we find most important is the spaciousness and tranquility that surround our farm, and we hope you can fully appreciate and enjoy them during your visit. We personally love waking up in the morning, stepping outside with a cup of coffee, and immersing ourselves in the symphony of birdsong and the gentle murmur of the river. Life in the south of France is meant to be lived outdoors, and despite this, we have managed to create an 80 square meter apartment on the first floor of one of our barns. With a rooftop terrace overlooking the courtyard, two double (or triple) bedrooms with private bathrooms, and a large open living/kitchen area, the apartment has been restored according to traditional building styles. It provides a refreshing space during the warm summer days.
Inside, you will find all the comforts you need for a pleasant stay, including a spacious open kitchen, a television, a wood stove, and heated bathrooms. Outside, as mentioned, there is plenty of space for leisure activities, walking, or simply unwinding.
Goudargues, the nearby village, boasts a population of around 1,000 inhabitants and has a rich history spanning several centuries. Evidence of this history can still be seen in and around the village. Located in the Cèze valley, Goudargues is renowned as the "Venice of the Gard" due to its charming canals that meander through the village center. As the hub of eco-tourism in the area, Goudargues offers a range of amenities, including bakeries, a butcher, hairdressers, beauty parlors, a village supermarket, various bars and restaurants, a post office, a tourist information center, and several shops catering to diverse needs. These activities contribute to a vibrant atmosphere in Goudargues, setting it apart from being just another beautiful, yet lifeless, village.
Despite its popularity among visitors, Goudargues maintains a laid-back ambiance, where one can take the time to enjoy a cold beer or a glass of pastis on one of the terraces along the canals, shaded by the magnificent 200-year-old plane trees.
