Description for B&B:
The Seigniory of Gerbe, established in the 16th century, experienced expansion in the 18th century under the ownership of Claude de Guerin de Chermont, a respected Adviser of the king and President Treasurer of France at Moulins.By the late 18th century, the Seigniory was acquired by the influential Lord of Racault, the Count of Reuilly. He held prestigious positions such as Mestre of camp of dragons, Chevalier of the Order of St-Louis, and Lieutenant of the Guards of Monseigneur the Count d'Artois.
The Orangery, spanning 16 meters in length, was a prominent feature of the estate. It overlooked the main courtyard, connecting the two square towers and the round tower. Adorned with 5 large windows, the Orangery allowed the sunlight to filter in, illuminating the mandarin trees and other citrus fruits from noon until night.
At the end of a 400-meter pathway lined with lime and plane trees, guests would arrive at the court of the Castle. This beautifully adorned area featured a basin and a fountain, creating a welcoming space for visitors to be accommodated.
