Dar Al Bahar is aptly named as the house by the sea. Situated on the ramparts of Essaouira in the "San Dion" area, it directly faces the vast ocean and its invigorating trade winds. The terrace provides an awe-inspiring view of the constant motion, as the winds crash against the rocky coastline, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. Moreover, one can also relish the panoramic vista of the medina, encompassing the ancient Scala's northern fort and the Mellah, the former Jewish quarter. In the distance, the sand dunes gracefully merge with the outskirts of the city.

Jean-Claude and Lise, a French-Dutch couple, have meticulously restored this century-old house. Once a vibrant area due to the presence of an authentic windmill, which sadly now stands as ruins, the neighborhood was known as Touahen, meaning mill in Arabic. Today, tranquility reigns supreme in this place, only occasionally interrupted by the crashing waves and the calls of seagulls.
